At Smartlink, our people are the driving force behind the networks that keep us connected—literally. This week, we’re highlighting Junius Smith, a Technician whose dedication, curiosity, and adventurous spirit help power our mission every single day.
Junius’ day-to-day is far from ordinary. On average, he visits four to five sites daily, performing critical tasks like CSR swaps and port moves. Some days, that number climbs even higher. “I’ve done up to eight port move sites in one day that were about 30 minutes apart from each other,” Junius explains. “It all depends on the location and scheduling.”
One of his favorite projects took him to a college in Albuquerque, New Mexico—a standout site that featured five CSR swaps in a single hub. “It was really interesting to see how all the CSRs were connected by one router commanding them to perform different tasks,” he recalls. Experiences like these allow Junius to dive deep into the technology, learning more with every assignment.
Since joining Smartlink, Junius has expanded his technical skills and gained hands-on experience with equipment he hadn’t worked with previously. “This role has allowed me to grow, which has been really great,” he says.
But for Junius, the job is more than just the technology—it’s the travel. “My favorite part of the job is the ability to travel. This work brings me to several different states where I get to meet new people, try new foods, and see the sights—all while getting to do work I enjoy.”
