At Smartlink, no two days are ever quite the same—just ask Michael Birndorf, a Real Estate Specialist who thrives on the dynamic nature of our work.
Michael plays a key role in keeping projects moving by reviewing and processing leases for approval, preparing building and zoning permit applications, and maintaining regular communication with clients. His days are filled with emails, check-ins, team meetings, and project reviews with clients. And while a lot of the work can be done digitally, he still enjoys the occasional trip out of the office for site visits or meetings with landlords.
When he started in this field, the process looked a lot different. “We would travel to every jurisdiction and purchase printed copies of their zoning codes and map,” he recalls. “But now much of what we do can be done on the computer. Times have definitely changed!”
Through it all, one key lesson has stood out to Michael: adaptability. “Processes and priorities are always changing,” he says. “You can’t get too comfortable with your routine.” That’s exactly what keeps things exciting for him—the fast-paced nature of the telecom and real estate industry, where projects move quickly and timelines are tight.
Before joining Smartlink, Michael worked in large-scale residential development, where projects could take years to complete. Today, he’s part of a team that can entitle and construct site modifications in under a year—an impressive feat that reflects both the efficiency of the industry and the dedication of the people behind the work.
