At Smartlink, we’re proud to honor the veterans who bring their service, discipline, and leadership to our teams every day. Among them is Kevin Racicot, a United States Marine Corps veteran and Real Estate Specialist, whose story embodies resilience, teamwork, and purpose.
From the Battlefield to the Workplace
Kevin served on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2008 to 2012, deploying twice to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011. During his time in service, he achieved the rank of Corporal and served as a Motor Transportation Mechanic and Wrecker Operator.
Those years, marked by grit, challenge, and camaraderie, left a lasting impact. “Adapt and overcome,” Kevin says, is the lesson that continues to define his approach to life and work. “Rarely do things go to plan, but learning to adapt and keep moving forward has stayed with me.”
Carrying Military Values into His Career at Smartlink
As a Real Estate Specialist, Kevin applies the same values that guided him in the Marines; discipline, accountability, and teamwork, to how he manages projects and supports clients.
“Those lessons taught me that success doesn’t happen alone,” Kevin explains. “Whether you’re in the field or collaborating across departments, it’s about the team beside you and the shared mission ahead.”
His precision, problem-solving mindset, and ability to adapt under pressure have made him an invaluable part of the Smartlink team.
The Meaning of Veterans Day
For Kevin, Veterans Day is deeply personal. It’s more than a time of reflection—it’s a day to honor those who served and to pass those values on to his family.
“To me, it’s a day to recognize and honor others who served and to teach my children what courage and commitment look like,” he says.
A Message to Fellow Veterans
Kevin understands firsthand that the transition from military to civilian life can be challenging. “Transitioning out of the military is not easy, and it’s okay to admit that,” he shares. His advice for others is to embrace the strengths that come from service; discipline, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership, and to stay mission driven.
“Your mission hasn’t ended; it’s simply evolved,” Kevin reminds us.
Honoring Those Who Paved the Way
This Veterans Day, Kevin takes time to recognize Vietnam veterans, a generation of service members who faced adversity both abroad and at home.
“Their service was met with challenges that went far beyond the battlefield,” he says. “Many returned home to hostility, silence, or neglect rather than the gratitude they had earned. Despite that, they paved the way for future generations of service members.”
Through their resilience and continued dedication, Kevin says, Vietnam veterans helped shape the support systems and recognition veterans receive today. “We owe them not only our thanks, but our lasting respect and acknowledgment for the sacrifices they made both overseas and here at home.”
This Veterans Day, Smartlink proudly joins Kevin in honoring the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resilience of all who have worn the uniform—past and present.
