Preparing a wireless network for a global event takes far more than installing new infrastructure. It requires thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and the ability to navigate complex environments while working against immovable deadlines.
That’s exactly what Smartlink’s Pacific Northwest team accomplished while supporting a major network modernization program throughout the Seattle metropolitan area earlier this year.
As part of the initiative, the team successfully completed work on 100 sites, including 40 high-priority locations that played a key role in expanding network capacity ahead of Seattle’s World Cup events. These sites were strategically positioned to help support the increased demand created by hundreds of thousands of visitors, ensuring the network was ready when it mattered most.
Delivering a project of this scale required more than securing site access. The team worked through the unique challenges that come with building in one of the nation’s most dynamic metropolitan areas, including navigating historic district requirements, local jurisdictional regulations, and coordination with private property owners, airports, and stadium venues. Every milestone had to be achieved within a fixed schedule to ensure construction was completed before the first fans arrived.
Success on projects like these is built on collaboration. Smartlink’s team worked closely with customers, municipalities, property owners, and project stakeholders to keep work moving while maintaining clear communication and adapting quickly as challenges arose. Their ability to coordinate across multiple parties and proactively solve issues helped keep the program on track from planning through site acquisition.
As modernization efforts continue across the Pacific Northwest, the team remains focused on supporting increasingly complex deployments while helping customers expand and strengthen their networks.
Whether preparing networks for major public events or supporting long-term modernization initiatives, Smartlink is committed to helping our customers build reliable, high-performing wireless networks that keep the communities they serve connected.
