Hourly Rate: $25-35/hr firm (dependent on experience)
Location: Must be willing to travel across continental United States

About the Role
We’re looking for a Fiber Splicing Technician I to support fiber-optic installation, mid-to-advanced splicing, and testing inside data center environments. This role focuses on building technical skills while assisting senior technicians with splicing, equipment setup, documentation, and safe work practices. You’ll perform accurate splices and test procedures using multiple types of test equipment, all while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
What You’ll Do
- Perform mid-to advanced-level fiber splicing, including basic ribbon and single-fiber splices.
- Conduct fiber testing using VFLs and power meters under supervision.
- Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting, setup, and field operations.
- Maintain accurate documentation for splice logs, test results, and project records.
- Follow all safety procedures and industry standards (TIA-568, IEC, Telcordia).
- Properly handle, clean, and maintain Fujikura 90R units and related tools/equipment.
- Represent the company professionally and uphold quality and ethical standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification a plus).
- 1+ year of fiber-optic installation, splicing, or related experience preferred.
- Proficiency with 200-micron ribbon fiber and basic data center network architectures (e.g., Base-16).
- Basic knowledge of fusion splicers (Fujikura, Sumitomo) preferred.
- Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn advanced techniques.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to travel.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, sit, walk long distances; bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional exertion up to 10 lbs.
- Work primarily indoors in data center environments.
- Regular and extended travel required.
