Job Title: Fiber Splicing Technician II
Reports To: Fiber Splicing Manager

Hourly Rate: $30-40/hr (firm, dependent on experience)
Location: Must be willing to travel across continental United States
Job Summary:
Responsible for expanding knowledge base and performing mid-to-high skilled tasks to install, splice, test and repair fiber optics. This position will install/splice fibers, to include ribbon optical fiber in Data Centers. This position must be capable of performing test procedures with various types of test equipment. All work to be completed in a safe manner to the highest quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform complex fiber optic splicing using ribbon and mass fusion techniques.
- Conduct comprehensive fiber optic testing using OTDR and power meter equipment.
- Mentor junior technicians and provide on-the-job training.
- Troubleshoot splice and testing failures.
- Maintain detailed splice and test documentation.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards (TIA-568, IEC, Telcordia).
- Operate and maintain Fujikura 90R and other specialized splicing equipment.
- Perform quality control inspections on completed work.
- Maintain professional, ethical, and company standards at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.
- Experience with 200-micron ribbon fiber and Base-16 architectures.
- Proficiency with mass fusion splicing equipment (Fujikura, Sumitomo).
- OTDR testing certification and experience with EXFO equipment.
- FOA CFOT certification; CFOS/S preferred.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time).
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force.
- Ability to stand, walk, or walk for extended periods of time and long distances, bend, reach, and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Subject to indoor environmental conditions.
