Job Title: Project Manager II
Reports To: Senior Project Manager or Director

Job Summary: Leads service activities for assigned customers nationally, within a specific geographic area or scope of work to meet growth, profitability, and performance objectives. Typically managing projects with an annual profit range of $500K to $1M. Ensures customer needs are met while delivering growth and profitability through forecasting, analysis, and budget management. Hires and allocates resources for multiple programs and projects, leading managers and individual contributors to align with customer and company goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee awards, programs, projects, and tasks for specific customers to achieve company goals and initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with customers and leverage these to create new business opportunities.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of customer and subcontractor contracts, pay points, and invoicing systems.
  • Develop clear and detailed project plans that align with Smartlink’s strategy and business goals.
  • Work with the team to maintain accurate budgets for each assigned project.
  • Deliver consistent, profitable results through the forecasting, analysis, and management of project budgets.
  • Interview, evaluate, and assign personnel to optimize productivity. Build project teams through effective onboarding and the development of internal talent.
  • Monitor team progress and results, providing timely evaluations and feedback.
  • Work closely with the internal executive team to develop business initiatives into clear objectives and goals for program teams.
  • Act as the point of escalation for customer and internal team issues.
  • Provide annual, quarterly, weekly, and ad hoc reports on project activity.
  • Contribute to Smartlink’s body of knowledge on process design, modeling, execution, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Mandate the use of Smartlink systems to manage company workflow, both individually and as a team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

 

  • At least 5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including 3 years in a management role, with extensive knowledge of the wireless industry, including leasing, zoning, construction, equipment installation, staffing, and maintenance.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, with a strong focus on coaching and developing future leaders.
  • Demonstrated financial leadership with extensive experience in budget analysis and management.
  • Success in developing and managing project teams and collaborative programmatic work.
  • Thoughtfully provide and receive feedback.
  • Effectively balance business priorities while achieving results.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project and timeline management, with a proven ability to handle extensive details and logistics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with outstanding interpersonal, coaching, and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook and especially Excel.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, including maintaining confidentiality.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Highly adaptable to dynamic and evolving environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time).
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions.
  • Moderate travel (<30%) for this position to perform job responsibilities.
