Salary: $80,000–$100,000 (dependent on experience)

About the Role
We’re looking for a Transport (CND) Engineer to support Smartlink’s rapidly growing network engineering team. You’ll work across multiple markets and customers, supporting internal delivery teams, GCs, and tower crews while designing, documenting, and managing transport backbone and backhaul networks. Experience working within Tier-1 critical-infrastructure provider environments—especially Verizon CND/Granite—is required.

What You’ll Do

  • Apply strong knowledge of transport and backhaul networks.
  • Utilize carrier systems and applications for network documentation and design.
  • Understand network facility layouts and transport equipment configurations.
  • Collaborate with Sub-Market Transport Engineers to create equipment, paths, segments, and work orders.
  • Update data fill to reflect transport design, status, and progression.
  • Manage and utilize IPV systems for both edge and core.
  • Provision customer circuits through VLAN management.
  • Work across MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, and OTM transport protocols.
  • Create routing protocols using BGP, IS-IS, and OSPF.
  • Place circuit orders with LECs (dark fiber, EOS, EBH, TLS).
  • Document transport circuits and paths accurately.
  • Track order status and escalate as needed.
  • Plan, design, and implement transport technologies supporting 5G rollout.
  • Participate in project updates and present status on active initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to develop optimal transport solutions.
  • Create trackers to improve data integrity and workflow efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Required experience with Verizon CND/Granite circuit database.
  • Working knowledge of transport ordering systems.
  • Strong understanding of interconnect circuit types (TLS, EMUX, Dark Fiber, EOS).
  • Knowledge of 4G/5G wireless architecture, including 3GPP Option 3X.
  • Experience with centralized RAN and urban interconnect environments.
  • Understanding of WDM, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, and microwave backhaul (licensed/unlicensed).
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Mainly sedentary work with occasional light activity.
  • Indoor office environment.
  • Ability to attend virtual meetings and use standard office tools effectively.

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel required (<10%).
