Smartlink is seeking a Transport Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience to join our rapidly growing team. Our engineers support our internal delivery teams, general contractors, and tower crews across multiple customers and markets. Proven experience working within Tier 1 critical infrastructure provider networks is a must.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of transport backhaul networks
- Knowledge and experience with the carrier applications
- Understanding of network back haul facility layout including equipment layout
- Knowledge of Carrier Network equipment
- Work with other Sub-Market Transport Engineers to ensure equipment/paths/segments/work orders are created to document Transport design and initiate work to proceed
- Work with other Sub-Market Transport Engineers to ensure data fill is updated to reflect Transport status/progression/design
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Manage and Utilize IPV systems for both edge and core
- Manage VLAN to provision Customer Circuits
- Work across Transport protocols for MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, and OTM
- Create Routing Protocols within BGP, IS-IS, and OSPF
- Place circuit orders with Local Exchange Carriers for a variety of telco services (i.e. dark fiber, EOS, EBH, and TLS
- Complete documentation of transport circuits and paths
- Track order status and escalate as required to ensure timely completion
- Plan, design and implement the latest transport technologies in support of our 5G network rollout
- Attend frequent project update meetings to present current status of pending and ongoing projects
- Collaborate with engineers of different disciplines to deliver the best transport solution
- Create and develop trackers to enhance data integrity, prioritization, and workflow
Education & Experience:
- A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience with CND/Granite circuit database
- Working knowledge of ordering systems
- Knowledge of related interconnect circuit types and features i.e. TLS/EMUX/Dark Fiber/EOS.
- Knowledge of wireless 4G and 5G wireless services as it pertains to architecture, 3GPP option 3X, etc.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of centralized RAN as it pertains to interconnections in an urban environment.
- Knowledge in wavelength division multiplexing technology.
- Knowledge of IPV4/IPV6 addressing.
- Knowledge about unlicensed and licensed microwave technology for backhaul.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal (<10%) travel is required with this position
